We are a group of Polish Amateur Radio operators, that are intending to organize a DX expedition to a distant island situated in the Indian Ocean.
The aim of our expedition is the Agalega Islands (IOTA AF-001; S10o23'19'' E56o37'08'' locator LH89qo) and more accurately the North Island of two-island Agalega archipelago. It is situated about 1120 km north from Mauritius and is a part of Mauritius country. The Agalega Islands have a total area of 70 km2. Capital Vingt Cinq and a village La Fourche are situated on the North Island and the South one is home to the village of Sainte Rita. Vingt Cinq may be small, but not that much as there is a church, a school and a hospital. There is an a runway on the North Island, although for the long time it is excluded from passenger transportation. That is why we have to rent a boat to get to Agalega archipelago.

The main industry of the Islands is coconut, which is also what the Islands are known of. The Islands are also popular for its unique Day Gecko - a medium-sized lizards that inhabit only the Agalega Islands.
The time of our expedition – June 2007, the Amateur Radio activity will be conducted for 12 days and it is planned to execute 40 thousands connections using all types of emission and frequencies for which we have ICTA permission. We have already got the permission for stay and Amateur Radio activity from the authorities – Information and Communication Technologies Authority (ICTA) from Mauritius.
